hey guys, im kinda going through a hard time now, i started college and am having trouble meeting new people, and i dont have alot of friends. Im thinking about browsing around the college forums on myspace and just messaging some people to talk with girls and guys, and believe me its not just to hook up with girls, i also just wanna talk with people and if they want to, im all up for getting togather. Does this sound weird? or like a bad idea or anything?

nah nothing wrong with that. You should join facebook too (www.facebook.com) and meet some people at your school. I'm sure you have heard of it.
Also, join some clubs or organizations at school to meet new people. Live it up!

No that is what myspace is for.. to get in touch with old friends and make new ones...just be careful on who you meet...

Most people that you meet on the internet are not reliable. The internet is not a reliable or safe source. People can lie to you through their teeth and you won't even notice. At least not right away......
You can try it but I suggest more reliable, natural ways of communication:
There are a lot of volunteer organizations, clubs, and sports teams (intermural or competitive) that you can join to meet new people!
People that you meet outdoors are more social than those you meet on the computer.
Check out the website of your college and research the types of opportunities and committees offered for social networking.
They may include:
-fundraisers
-environmental club
-student council
etc...
Also, I imagine that you'd be more confortable with intermural sports, because everyone who joins intermural teams plays for fun. That's a great way to socialize while staying in shape! Lol.
